FSVP and Freight: Roles to Confirm Before Shipping Food from China
Which party is the FSVP importer, and what should the forwarder know?
Start with the exact product and shipment
The FSVP importer is a food-safety compliance role; it is not automatically the freight payer, consignee or customs broker. Confirm the responsible US party before cargo is dispatched.
Make the handoff actionable
Have the buyer identify the FSVP importer and its contact, verify the supplier/product records with its food-safety adviser, and tell the logistics team about inspection holds, temperature or segregation instructions. Keep the regulatory and transport workstreams aligned.
Confirm the boundary before cargo moves
A forwarder cannot create a supplier-verification program or certify food safety merely by arranging transport. Resolve responsibility with the importer before booking.
Prepare a quote request
Include the product name and model, supplier city and pickup address, destination ZIP code, cargo-ready date, total pieces, packed dimensions and gross weight. State whether freight is palletized, stackable, temperature-sensitive or subject to special handling. For regulated or restricted goods, attach the current product documents and request written carrier review before delivery to the warehouse. Review the [relevant ANELGO service page](/) and send the details through the [shipment inquiry form](../index.html#quote).
