Can perfume be shipped by air or ocean? Start with the product details
Perfume is not automatically ordinary cargo. Some fragrances contain alcohol or other ingredients that affect how a carrier classifies, handles and accepts the product. The available service can vary by exact formulation, packaging, quantity, origin, destination and transport provider.
Why the exact fragrance matters
“Perfume” can describe products with different ingredients and concentrations. A carrier may need product composition, alcohol content and a current safety data sheet to determine how the shipment should be handled. If the product is alcohol-free, state that clearly and provide supporting product information when available.
Air freight and ocean freight are not interchangeable
Each mode has its own carrier rules, handling capabilities, documentation and service availability. A product accepted on one route or service does not guarantee acceptance on another. Transit estimates and costs also depend on packaging, quantity, origin and final destination.
Packaging and shipment details to prepare
- Brand, model and precise product description
- Ingredient list and alcohol concentration, if known
- Safety data sheet or manufacturer product sheet
- Bottle size, quantity and total shipment value
- Inner and outer packaging details, dimensions and weight
- Origin and destination city and country
- Ready date and preferred delivery window
Questions to ask your freight forwarder
Ask whether the requested carrier and route will accept the specific formulation, which documents and package markings are required, whether there are quantity limits, and what service scope is included. Confirm in writing before cargo is handed over.
ANELGO can review a perfume or cosmetics request when you provide product details and destination information. A request for review is not confirmation of acceptance.
