Customs Release vs Carrier Release: Why a US Import May Still Not Be Deliverable
Why can a shipment remain unavailable after customs release?
Start with the exact product and shipment
Customs release and carrier or terminal release are separate operational statuses. Payment, document surrender, holds, appointment availability and terminal availability can remain open after an entry is released.
Make the handoff actionable
Check entry release with the broker, ocean-carrier release and any original-document requirement, terminal availability, outstanding provider charges, exam holds and delivery appointment. Ask for the exact remaining blocker and responsible party.
Confirm the boundary before cargo moves
Avoid booking a truck until the terminal/provider confirms the container or freight is available and the release chain is complete.
Prepare a quote request
Include the product name and model, supplier city and pickup address, destination ZIP code, cargo-ready date, total pieces, packed dimensions and gross weight. State whether freight is palletized, stackable, temperature-sensitive or subject to special handling. For regulated or restricted goods, attach the current product documents and request written carrier review before delivery to the warehouse. Review the [relevant ANELGO service page](/services/battery-electronics-shipping.html) and send the details through the [shipment inquiry form](../index.html#quote).
