Before a Port Pickup: Container Number, Chassis and Appointment Checklist
What should a buyer verify before sending a truck to collect an import container?
Start with the exact product and shipment
Port pickup depends on correct references and current terminal status. A container can be physically at port but unavailable because of a hold, appointment, equipment or release issue.
Make the handoff actionable
Confirm container and booking numbers, customs and carrier release, terminal availability, appointment window, chassis/equipment plan, driver instructions, free-time information and delivery-site access. Share a single current dispatch sheet with the trucker.
Confirm the boundary before cargo moves
A vessel-arrival message does not mean the box is grounded and ready. Verify live terminal status and avoid relying on stale screenshots.
Prepare a quote request
Include the product name and model, supplier city and pickup address, destination ZIP code, cargo-ready date, total pieces, packed dimensions and gross weight. State whether freight is palletized, stackable, temperature-sensitive or subject to special handling. For regulated or restricted goods, attach the current product documents and request written carrier review before delivery to the warehouse. Review the [relevant ANELGO service page](/services/battery-electronics-shipping.html) and send the details through the [shipment inquiry form](../index.html#quote).
