A tracking page may show a container event, a vessel event or a forwarder’s internal milestone. These do not all mean the goods are ready for the next step. Use the correct reference number and confirm what each event represents with the carrier, forwarder, broker or terminal responsible for it.

Choose the right tracking reference

Ask whether the provider can track by booking number, master or house bill of lading, container number or parcel tracking number. A consolidated LCL shipment may move under a master container record while your house bill identifies your own cargo. Keep both references and the destination agent’s contact.

Read the transport milestones in order

Common events can include booking confirmed, cargo received at a terminal or warehouse, container loaded, vessel departed, transshipment, vessel arrived, discharged and cargo available. Carrier systems may update late or use different event names. “Arrived” does not necessarily mean customs released or available for pickup.

Separate customs and delivery status

Ask the customs broker for entry acceptance and release status, and ask the carrier or terminal about document release, charges and availability. Then coordinate a pickup or delivery appointment. A shipment can be physically at port while a customs hold, missing release, unpaid charge or appointment issue remains unresolved.

Escalate a stale or conflicting event

If an ETA changes or tracking stops updating, ask the provider for the last confirmed physical event, revised ETA, reason for the change and next decision date. Save notices and avoid making inventory promises based only on an estimated arrival. For a customs status, use the broker or CBP-facing process rather than inferring release from a vessel tracker.

Set up milestone updates

For a route review, send the origin, destination, mode, bill or booking reference only through the authorized provider’s secure process; do not publish private shipment references on a public page. Start a new transport inquiry through the [ANELGO form](../index.html#quote) with shipment details and desired update frequency.
