Live Unload or Drop Trailer for Import Containers: Choose the Receiving Plan
Should a warehouse live-unload a container or request a drop plan?
Start with the exact product and shipment
A live unload requires labor and dock capacity within the provider’s allowed time; a drop plan requires space and equipment and may introduce separate storage or chassis constraints.
Make the handoff actionable
Confirm facility hours, unload rate, forklift capacity, container floor condition, cargo sequence, trailer parking and the provider’s time allowance. Compare the cost and operational risk of each option with the warehouse team.
Confirm the boundary before cargo moves
Never assume free waiting or storage. Confirm the written service terms, time limits and who pays if unloading runs late.
Prepare a quote request
Include the product name and model, supplier city and pickup address, destination ZIP code, cargo-ready date, total pieces, packed dimensions and gross weight. State whether freight is palletized, stackable, temperature-sensitive or subject to special handling. For regulated or restricted goods, attach the current product documents and request written carrier review before delivery to the warehouse. Review the [relevant ANELGO service page](/services/battery-electronics-shipping.html) and send the details through the [shipment inquiry form](../index.html#quote).
